What the result means
Put different sizes and pack counts on the same basis to compare unit price and equal-quantity cost.
Example
$2.98 for 400ml and $5.98 for 900ml cost $0.745 and about $0.664 per 100ml. At 900ml, B is about $0.725 less.
How it works
Unit price = price ÷ (amount × pack count × conversion factor)
Equal-quantity cost = unit price × comparison quantity
A common mistake
A larger package can have a lower unit price while still costing more upfront. It only saves money if the quantity is useful.
